Hendrik Vincent Koops is an AI researcher and composer, holding degrees in Sound Design and Music Composition from the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, and degrees in Artificial Intelligence from Utrecht University.

After a research internship at Carnegie Mellon University, he defended his Ph.D. dissertation on Computational Modelling of Variance in Musical Harmony at the Department of Information and Computing Sciences at Utrecht University. His PhD was supervised by dr. Anja Volk and prof. dr. Remco C. Veltkamp.

Currently, he is a Senior Machine Learning & Audio Scientist at Universal Music Group. This role sits within the Music and Audio Machine Learning Lab (MAML) at UMG. The MAML's mission is to support and empower UMG business units and partners with advanced technologies for Music, Audio and Machine Learning.

Previously, he worked on AI Multimedia projects as a Senior Data Scientist at RTL Netherlands, and co-organized multiple AI Song Contest editions.
